What do you need to market your business?

Before you decide how Fàs can help, it is good to get to grips with the different areas of marketing to find out more about what your business might need.

What is Marketing?

Marketing is how you choose to present your business – to customers, to partners, to investors.

Marketing features the ‘what’, ‘where’, ‘when’ and ‘why’ to your audience, in order to attract them to what you do.

This in turn will help grow your audience, get people to engage with your business or project, allow your brand to be recognised and generate income.

Parts of Marketing that you will often hear about are your brand, your communications and your promotions.

Branding

Your branding is not only your logo, it is also how the audience recognises or perceives your business.

Do you use the same font and colour scheme in all of your written material – letters, flyers, labels, website?

What do your customers think when they hear your business name? Good customer service or great quality products?

Do you talk to your customers in a friendly or informative tone?

All of these factors play into your branding, and what kind of reputation you are aiming to achieve for your business.

Communications

Communications are one of the most straight forward elements of your marketing.

This is how you tell people about what your business is doing.

Communications can come in many different forms: website, social media, newsletters, flyers, leaflets, posters, adverts, signage, etc.

It is important to find out what communications work best for your business to effectively reach your audience and use your time and money wisely.

Promotions

Promotions are the things you want to tell your audience about your business through your communications channels.

This can be in the form of written content, images or video.

These don’t only have to be special offers or discounts, promotions can be any item of information that you think will attract people to your business i.e. behind the scenes look at product development, set up for an event, sharing a recognised partner you are working with, etc.
